YOUNG PEOPLE IN ACTIVE POLITICS

Young people with ethical conduct are not willing to come forward to join active politics. Suggest some steps to motivate them to come forward.
In 2004, 50% of the Indian population was aged 30 years or younger; however only 35 out of 543 Lok Sabha members(6%) were aged under 35. Nevertheless, a World Values Survey conducted by the World Bank showed that the proportion of the people aged 18-24 who identified themselves "very" or "rather" interested in politics was around 50%, an increase of 15% since 1990. The oldies, who are chosen to perform their duties of public services by making the rules and getting them into action, so that a system of proper functioning of the government can be carried out, these people work on their pre-set traditional patterns, which results in a failure at times when there is a need for snap decisions to be taken.
Here are some steps to motivate ethical and honest young young persons to join active politics:
1. Introduction of practical politics in school and college curriculum.
2. Political training by private sector training institutions.
3. Voluntary annual camps for political seminar and workshops in schools and colleges.
4. Face to face interaction of political workers and leaders with student community.'
5. Political internship programs for students interested in politics.
6. A well developed politics as a career strategy by policy makers.
7. Introduction of mock parliament in schools and colleges.
8. Development of cultural of political and social service.
9. Development of political organizations, bodies and pressure groups with wide participation.
10. Development of positive attitude and awareness among parents of students.
