MANGALURU PLASTIC PARK:

The Central Government recently approved to build a plastic park at Ganjimutt, Mangalore, Karnataka. The park will be created at Rs 62.77 crores, out of which, 50% of the fund is to be borne by the Central Government and the rest by KIADB. It is to be built by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) land.

About the park:

  • Generates hundreds of employment for the local youths.
  • A poly propylene unit is to be set up in the park which will provide raw materials to the polymer and plastic units inside the park. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic polymer. It is mainly used in plastic packaging.
  • Also, the park will help reduce transport costs. This is because, 32 companies are to be established within the park. This includes entrepreneurs from other districts as well.
  • The park will include admin building, export building, warehouse facility, etc.


FIVE ALARM GLOBAL FIRE:

The United Nations recently announced that the world is to face five major risks in 2022. These risks are referred to five – alarm global fire. 
The five alarms are 
  • ragging Covid-19 outbreak
  • diminished peace and security
  • lawlessness in cyberspace,
  • climate crisis
  • bankrupt global financial system.

DELHI STREET SCRAPING PROJECT:

The Delhi Government is to begin a redeveloping, streetscaping and beautification project. Around 540 km of roads in the national capital are to be beautified.

About the project:

  • Under the project, the roads in the country capital will be redeveloped to European standards, that is, 30m or above. Also, the project will make the roads safe for the pedestrians.
  • The project will make the roads balanced for the transit vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.
  • The project is to be implemented in Hybrid Annuity Mode. It is to be implemented by the Public Welfare Department of Delhi.
  • The government will pay 60% of the project cost to the agencies implementing the project. The rest is to be paid in thirty bi – annual instalments in hybrid annual mode. Also, the agencies will look after the maintenance of these roads.
